How high should kitchen wall units be above the worktop?

I keep seeing different measurements mentioned online and now I’m second-guessing what’s actually normal versus just personal preference or modern trends

"Between 450mm-500mm. All depends if you have a larder tall unit. Then the wall units are in line at the top with your larder unit."

"There is no accepted standard for the height of a wall cabinet above the worktop. I usually fit them to suit a full tile because it avoids cutting tiles therefore if the tiles are 150 mm it would be 450 mm and for 100 mm it would be 400 mm and for 200 mm it would also be 400"

"The standard guideline for kitchen design is:
Wall units should be fitted about 450 mm (45 cm) above the worktop
Provides enough working space on the countertop
Prevents you from hitting your head on cabinets
Keeps units easily accessible
Allows space for small appliances (kettle, toaster, etc.)
Good practice:
Minimum: 400 mm
Standard: 450 mm
Maximum: around 500–600 mm (depending on user height)
Note: Above a hob, the clearance is usually greater (often 650 mm+), especially if a cooker hood is installed."

"50 cm.
That's what most (not all) kitchen suppliers recommend and use."

"Usually between 57cm and 62cm . Now if there is a gas hob with fmame it should be at least 70 cm from cooker hood."

"Kitchen cabinets above Hob need to be 650 for electric and 750mm if gas

Above worktop 450 to 500 to under cabinet. But mainly the top of the wall cabinet needs to be inline with your tall units"

"Usually level with tower units or between 450/600mm of the worktop"

"Hi, that’s a good question. The standard distance between the worktop and the bottom of the wall units is usually around 450 mm. This gives enough space to work comfortably on the worktop and also allows room for things like kettles and small appliances.
Sometimes it can be slightly higher around 470–500 mmdepending on the kitchen design or personal preference, but 450 mm is generally considered the normal standard most installers use.
