Gloss paint in sunlight

I've heard that gloss paint goes yellow in the sun. Should I use a different paint for the woodwork in my orangery?

"If it's natural wood finish use Osmo. Oil based gloss goes yellow over time. If painting over gloss you need to sand it down to remove all of the shine. Bin 123 Zinsser bull primer. Super dec is ten year flexible water based available in lots of colours. Water based gloss doesn't yellow."

"Gloss paint does yellow sadly over time. The water based paints seem to last longer keeping their brightness, however I’ve found johnstones Aqua satin to be rather good."

"Oil based paints will all discolour over time. If you're wanting them to last then try one of the new water based systems in a gloss finish. The sheen will not be as strong as oil based gloss but will stay whiter and brighter for a lot longer."

"Most modern gloss’ doesn’t yellow nearly as much as it used to, unless you buy cheap. But there are gloss’ made specifically for use in area subject to prolonged sunlight, also a lot of very good water based stuff around that doesn’t tend to yellow so much and are nicer to work with, (dulux trade, crown trade, Johnson trade etc)
Alternatively a decent (as above) satin will work well in areas with prolonged sun and are much nicer to use than gloss.

Hope this helps"

"Cheap gloss paint go yellow after awhile.

Go for the highest end quality white gloss paint. Those ones from experience don't go yellow over time. Just wipe and clean and top uo paints every now and then."
