Fixing plastic water pipe with glue

Can you fix a leaky plastic water pipe with glue? If so, what type of glue do I need to use?

"No but fixing plastic pipes is very easy any way.
Just cut a section out, get 2 sleeves and another plastic pipe and replace"

"A plumbers merchant will be able to supply the solvent glue.

"Not really. If it is a plastic feed pipe, then it will be pressurised and that section would need replacing. If it is a plastic waste pipe then a temporary fix might be achieved with certain construction adhesives, but ultimately a proper replacement should be installed."

"You need solvent cement or solvent weld.
But not all pipes can be glued. There are different types of me plastic"

"if its a waste solvent water pipe yes you can fix with glue if its a mains water pipe or gravity feed waterpipe would not advise it"
