    Bathroom, Kitchen and WC Plumbing

This trader has not performed lasting satisfactory work on the bathroom. Tiles and sealant left loose and subject to the elements. I have reported the issue of the work with the trader and he has acknowledged his poor work but has failed to reattend my property to complete the work, despite agreeing to do so multiple times. Once I paid him cash for the work initially, his communication and customer service skills have been non-existent, often lying and misleading me into agreeing a time to attend the property only to not answer calls/texts at that time and day. I have agreed to rearrange with this trader 8 times over the span of 3 months and still no attendance to correct the poor work performed. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!

    Prompt service well received

    General Maintenance

My tenant informed me the job was completed. I did not get any further communication from tradesman after payment

    Plumbing Repair & Maintenance

Job turned out to be simpler than thought, but charged more than quoted. Paid cash and couldn’t provide me with a VAT receipt although a LTD company!

    Appliances

Unfortunately the job to fit the washing machine was done carelessly. The transport bolts were not removed and Steve didn't think that checking the installation manual was something he needed to do. We ended up with some smashed plates and damaged kitchen fittings as a result of the washing machine going berserk on its first spin cycle. He's probably a fine plumber but I think next time, check the instructions...

Top work, Cam around quickly, identified the problem, and worked out a solution which was fitted and resolved the issue. Two hours tops from my requesting a quote online to resolution.

    Water Tanks and Immersion Heater

I sent a job out requesting a plumber to fix my water heater. Steve’s plumbing Ltd contacted me to do the job although the quote had gone up as he said the immersion heaters were more money than he thought, he said they were £85 each and I needed two of them. I excepted his quote as he was able to carry out the job that day. He came to my address that afternoon and told me he had the wrong immersion heaters and would have to go back to his suppliers to get the correct ones. After a while he phoned me to say that they haven’t got them in stock and they are on their way to the supplier from the manufacturer and that he will be later than first expected. That evening he sent me a text saying the delivery lorry, with my immersion heaters, has broken down on the M4 and that he couldn’t do the job until the next day, Friday 19th Jan. This was all a lie as I phoned the supplier (The companies name and details were in the immersion heater boxes) who informed me that they weren’t waiting for a delivery on Friday, that they’ve always got these particular immersion heaters in stock and that they cost £15 each and not £85 each which is what I was charged. Plus £95 labour charges. He came back the next day and decided that he was only going to change the thermostats. He said the immersion haters were in fact OK. I asked if that affected the price since he wouldn’t have to drain the tank down and change the immersion heaters and requested he changed the old for the new anyway since he had them. He said no the price is still the same because if the heaters are broke he would come back and change them free of charge. He then asked for £265 which I paid he then informed me that he would send me a receipt via email when he got home. He didn’t stay to check to see if the system was working, he just assumed it would. He never sent a receipt or invoice or any message. I checked my heater a couple of hours later to see if it was working and it wasn’t. I tried to contact him numerous times eventually he sent me a text message informing me that he would be calling round once he finished the job he was on. He said that it would be after 5pm. It was some time after 5pm he sent me a text message saying his van had broken down and that he was waiting for the AA. I sent him a reply saying that I needed him to come back as soon as his van was fixed as I have no hot water at all. He never replied. I’ve been trying to contact him ever since on numerous occasions but he just won’t reply. I tried phoning him again this morning, Monday, 22 January, to see if I could get a refund but again he hasn’t replied. I called another heating engineer out, on that same Friday night, who after checking the system said there was nothing wrong with the immersion heaters, my problem was with a faulty switch which he was able to fix on the spot. I now have hot running water, but it wasn’t because of the thermostat or the heaters. Steve’s plumbing Limited had overcharge me for the immersion heaters. I know this as I phoned the supplier. The supplier informed me that the immersion heaters are only £15 each and not £85 each which I was charged and that they are never out of stock nor did they have a delivery that Friday which means that Steve Thomas from Steve’s plumbing Limited lied to me from beginning to end he knew I wanted the job completed that evening and played for time just to get the job. I paid £265 for two thermostats and 20 minutes labor which wasn’t even the cause of the problem.
