Fixing bathroom light switch

The cord on our bathroom light pull has snapped. How do I safely fix this without an electrician please?

"Providing you do not open the switch and it isn't damaged exposing the connections, there should be a plastic toggle which allows new string to thread through and attach .
If this is missing, new string can be bought which comes with the toggle and is easy to attach.
If the string has snapped at the entry point to the switch it is broken and needs an electrician"

"If the cord is still protruding from the middle of the existing switch, most good hardware stores will carry replacement pull cords.

This can be easily attached without the need to remove the switch from the box.

But should the cord not be visible, the complete switch will need to be replaced."

"Hi June,

Hope you well,

Sorry to hear your cord has snapped this is something that happends alot over time.

You can tie something to the existing bit of cord that's left and that would work but I wouldn't recommend taking any components apart as this is where the risk of shock comes in.

If you need someone to come and have a look I can come and sort the issue I am very reasonable with my prices.

Kind regards

Mike"

"If you already don't know how to do it Don't. Get an Electrician. Two dangers right away. You might electrocute yourself and if that doesnt kill you then
the fall might. Ps I am being entirely serious and not trying to be sarcastic or funny.. Some elect will not does customers will not pay. Remember the elect apart from his trade ,qualifications, insurance ,tools. Petrol, road tax van insurance, clothing has to earn a living. A Local elect is entitled to charge around 90.00. Seems a lot. NOT. Think about your safety."

"If the cord is snapped within the unit then it will need to be replaced. If the cord has snapped half way or if there's anything left to tie a new cord to then yiu can do this safely yourself"
