"Personally I hate water based paints for woodwork, the finish is never as good and can chip alot easier plus it needs more coats to make a nice solid coat, I would use Solvent based myself it lasts longer and less coats to get it looking solid.

Thanks"

"While not as durable as oil, water-based paints have drastically improved. Higher quality 100% acrylic paints can last ten years or longer for exterior painting projects. Crack and yellow-resistant. Water-based paints do not yellow or crack like oil-based options since there is more flexibility in the paint."

"Solvent based paints are always thr stronger choice but it depends on what your painting and weather conditions ect .for example if your using it outside in cold weather then it won't dry as fast as it should and dirt will stick to it so water based in circumstances like that would be better but for durability in general oil based paint is the best choice"

"Solvent-based paints has a tougher finish than water-based paints, making them easier to clean; however, they become brittle on aging. Water-based paints have faster drying times, excellent adhesion, no need for additives,"
