"Tanking is for complete water seal. As water proofing is just putting damp proofing products into your cement/plaster to prevent/ so it depends on how bad your damp problem is to what you use."

"Tanking refers to creating a barrier to prevent water penetration, often by applying a waterproof membrane. Waterproofing involves treating surfaces to make them resistant to water, providing a protective layer against moisture intrusion."

"In terms of which is better for basements, the choice will depend on the specific needs and circumstances of each property. Tanking is generally considered to be more effective at preventing water penetration, but it can be more expensive and disruptive to install. Waterproofing is less expensive and less invasive, but it may not be suitable for basements that experience significant water infiltration. Ultimately, it's best to consult with a professional waterproofing or tanking specialist who can assess your specific needs and recommend the most appropriate solution for your property."
