Cracked bricks

Question

There are a couple of cracked bricks on the side wall of my home. They're not connected in one line, so I don't think it's due to movement. What could be the cause?

Would be due to the mortar falling causing a weakened structure, would be a good idea to get it chased out and re pointed if your local I could re point for you I would recommend using a lime cement mixture

Old age / weather playes a part in them splitting / the face falls off

Hi there, the possible cause could be corroded wall ties, when wall ties corrode they expand and can cause cracking to mortar joints and or bricks.

It could simply be down to getting weathered. Get them repointed so as not to cause any damage to the bricks or the interior

Faulty bricks to start with possibly over time frost has got into them and made the cracks worse

Probably due to the bed and joints that were originally constructed being at fault.

Probably hair line cracks that have weathered, from ice in the winter then heat in the summer.
