"Clay paint is a type of paint made from natural clay and other natural ingredients. Unlike traditional paint, which is made from petroleum-based chemicals, clay paint is a more environmentally friendly option that is free of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and other harmful substances.

Some of the key differences between clay paint and other paint options include:

Durability: Clay paint is known for its long-lasting durability and resistance to fading, chipping, and cracking.

Breathability: Clay paint allows walls to "breathe" by allowing moisture to evaporate, which can help to prevent mold and mildew growth.

Appearance: Clay paint has a unique, earthy appearance that can add warmth and character to a space.

Application: Clay paint can be thicker and more challenging to apply than other paint options, so it may require more time and patience.

Cost: Clay paint is often more expensive than traditional paint, but it can be worth the investment for those who are looking for a more sustainable and durable paint option.

Overall, clay paint is a good option for those who are looking for a more natural and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional paint, and who are willing to invest in a product that will last for years to come."

Being totally free from oils and acrylics, it is a water-based, breathable emulsion suitable for walls and ceilings. It's especially suitable for lime plaster, older properties and buildings that may have suffered from damp problems, as well as over painting pre-existing paintwork."

"One big difference is the remarkably flat matt finish you get with clay paint, which is comparatively easy to achieve. The other is the fact that it isn't dusty like chalk paint meaning that it's much less likely to come off on your clothes."

"Great product for walls / ceilings although it does mark easier and if used on any type of furniture or cabinets would need to be waxed to protect it"

"Hi there, clay paint is a lovely paint with a very matt finish and good coverage. It is often used in historic settings as it works well over lime render. It is breathable, totally VOC free and a very natural choice. It can take quite a long time to dry and is easily marked if using on walls as it is very soft. So therefore if using on furniture, if does need protecting by a wax or lacquer as it doesn't stand up well with any water, which will leave marks. Chalk paint I suppose is the nearest thing.. but chalk paint has a more dusty finish until you seal that with a wax/lacquer too. It is very different to other paints as it is much more natural, but you do loose the durability in a family home.😊"
