Chimney removal cost

How much does it cost to hire professionals to remove a chimney in terms of the waste removal expenses specifically? So excluding the labour cost.

"Disposal costs for chimney removal waste (excluding labour) in the UK typically depend on the volume and weight of the rubble:

For a small amount of rubble (mainly bricks and light debris): around £100–£250 for a 2–4 yard skip

For a medium chimney removal (larger brick pile): around £200–£400 for a 6 yard skip

For heavy materials like dense brickwork, stone, or concrete, costs can go above £400, especially if weight limits are exceeded and multiple collections are needed

Overall, the main factor is the amount and weight of waste, rather than the demolition work itself."

"The specific waste removal expense for a professional chimney removal typically ranges from £100 to £450, depending entirely on the scale of the demolition and your disposal method.Because chimney rubble consists of heavy, dense materials (bricks, mortar, concrete, and plaster), it is classified as heavy construction waste and cannot be disposed of via standard rubbish collection."

"Really depends on how much building materials come out from the chimney it’s very hard to judge without photos but I would say anything more than £300 would probably be abit to high just to take the waste away as long as it’s in a ton bag or bagged in some way no more than £300"

"In terms of waste removal only (excluding labour), the main cost will usually be skip hire or licensed waste disposal.

For a chimney removal, debris is typically brick, block, mortar and plaster, which is classified as heavy construction waste. Costs will depend on size and location, but as a general guide:
• Skip hire (6–8 yard builders skip): approximately £250–£400 for a standard hire period.
• If the skip needs to be placed on a public road, a permit may add £30–£80 depending on the local authority.
• In some areas, heavy waste surcharges may apply if the skip is filled entirely with brick and rubble.

Alternatively, a licensed waste carrier may charge anywhere from £200–£400+ depending on volume and access.

A full chimney breast removal can generate a significant amount of rubble, especially if removing from multiple floors, so it’s important to size the skip correctly.

Prices vary regionally, but for waste disposal alone, you would typically budget in the region of £250–£450."
