Cement mix on slabs

Question

What's the best sharp sand and cement ratio for laying slabs 6-10 inches away from each other as stepping slabs inside a bed of Whitestone resin?

I would suggest a slightly stronger mix for individual slabs, 4:1 sand and cement and recommend a small haunch around the edges for additional support.

I would use a stronger.mix than normal for singluler slabs 4 to 1 ratio ,with a little launch around the edges of the.laued slabs

Contrary to the recommendations of a stronger 4:1 mix, a 5:1 mix is more than sufficient for this. Depending on the slabs that you are laying, the most important thing to ensure that slabs adhere correctly and don’t easily blow, is applying slurry to the back of slabs. Lots of landscapers skip this crucial step, resulting in callbacks.

Ratio of 5/1 would be perfectly sufficient for the job in hand

Definetly a 4 to 1 mix to make sure the bed is solid . Also make sure that you are bedding your slabs on a decent amount if mortar ( 40-50 mm) per slab so you get full coverage and avoid wash out over time

I normally prefer 6 shovels of sharp to 1 of cement. If you want a stronger mix use 5 to 1. Hope this helps.
