Slateroof extension leaks in heavy downpours. Professionals have said that pitch is just adequate and installed okay. Is there a waterproof agent that i could paint on to seal as my next process of elimination ? Renewed lead recently but that didnt fix it.

Hi We are self-building a two storey extension on our semi-detached house. We are nearly up to the wall-plate of 1st floor and looking at arranging quotes for roof-work. Our planning permission is for changing the roof from a gable to hipped roof with 2 veluxes added; a new gable roof to the 1st floor extension. Plus a dormer. Any original roof remaining, may need to be replaced (ridge tiles definitely)? I've emailed a few roofers but not getting much response back. Should I be contacting general builders instead or arranging individual tradesmen? I expect lead in times will be long so prepared for any wait. Structural engineer plans also completed.
