Do roofers always need a scaffold to access the roof? There's just a few slates loose on the roof and the first roofer we approached said we'd need a scaffold. Obviously, that adds to the cost of a small repair.
Hello, we had a section of wooden guttering replaced in January 2022. The paint or whatever was used as a covering, is now peeling along a metre or so. Should wooden guttering need undercoating? A year seems far too soon for this to happen.
I have old wooden gutters on my property. They are at a point where most would simply have them replaced, however, they’re extremely important to me as it's a family home and my grandfather built them by himself sixty years ago. So I am willing to pay more than most would to preserve these gutters as long as possible. What efforts can I have, even radical efforts to keep these gutters going for at least another say ten to fifteen years? At what point, do worn down gutters become a danger?
What steps are roofers taking nowadays given the covid-19 pandemic? How can I accommodate for this?
What distinguishes sky windows, roof windows and skylights from one another?
There are multiple issues with the soffits and fascias on my roof and I figure it's time to replace them. What is the best type of soffits and fascias I should purchase based on durability?
I would like to have a two linear metre section of a downspout replaced. It is made of uPVC but the sections in question are beyond repair. I am based in the midlands of England. How much is this likely to cost me?
There are a few holes in our roof felt. Does the whole lot need replacing or can it be patched?
There's a bathroom exhaust vent above my bedroom window on the first floor which looks awful, you can even see the duct inside when you're looking up from the garden. I want to get rid of it but I can't afford to replace the whole soffit. I was wondering if replacing just that section of the soffit above the window is an option or if there's another way to repair it. The current soffit is made of UPVc.
I have a 15 linear metre area of guttering along the front of my house and the same coverage along the back of my house. In both cases it is aluminium guttering that is present. I’d like to have both areas (so 30 metres in length of gutters altogether) replaced with uPVC guttering. How much can I expect to pay a guttering installer to perform this work in terms of their installation fee? And how much will the new gutters cost? What about the cost of removing the old guttering? Am I best hiring a skip or will most professionals sort this out for me and I pay them a charge as part of my overall bill? I’d just like to know how this works. Thanks for your time.
