Just had a gable end wall rendered with tyrolean leaving a very lumpy uneven finish with outlines of the blockwork showing through (ghosting I believe its called) . The original render was hacked off, then a very thin coat of a grey material was sprayed on to the blockwork before they started spraying on the tryolean, they also did not removed a wood burner flue just sprayed around existing render. Now after rainfall not only do we have the uneven finish but the area around the flue looks damp for days. Builder has offered to recover the wall due to poor finish but I am worried job was not done correctly in the first place - should there have been some form of render applied after the thin grey substance and before the tyrolean?
How much would it we to re-plaster a T-Shaped front porch all walls and ceiling? Cost to tile the concrete floor? Room area is 4 m squared.
I have a semi-detached property and the render is coming off in places around the window. It looks sturdy elsewhere and it doesn't seem to extensive that it should all have to come off but can you patch these bits? How do you know If the render is in too bad of a condition, what do you use to patch? Any help would be appreciated.

A painter came in and covered a ceiling crack using scrim tape with some plaster/filler. Taken off the top layer and while the tape looks stuck to the ceiling the top layer seems to be loose. Any suggestions what went wrong and how to fix it?
I have just had a kitchen ceiling plastered and sections have fallen down what is the best way to repair the ceiling?

I have several Artex ceilings in my house and I'd like to freshen things up. I've read that plastering over Artex is one way to 'get rid of it'. I'd like to know if this is a long-term solution or will I need to replace the Artex ceilings eventually?
I’m trying to find out if it would be possible to get my front steps skimmed - they’re outdoors and are just needing a wee bit TLC. It’s 8 stairs and possibly the ground right at the front door and side of the staircase. If possible, a rough idea of cost would be great too.
Hello all We have recently stripped wallpaper from a wall as part of our renovations and found some hairline cracks along the plaster. (The plaster itself is still completely solid and no loose sections to worry about.) I had been advised to use scrim tape for hairline cracks in plaster. Before priming the walls to be skimmed, should these cracks be sealed with scrim tape, before the walls are primed to be skimmed? Is there any risks to the plaster over the long term by using the scrim tape? If anyone has any other suggestions for hairline cracks, besides re-plastering the section, please let me know.
