    Electric cooker switch

Hi, is there a minimum distance the switch should be sited from a freestanding electric cooker? My switch would appear to be in the hot zone above and to the side of where the cooker goes.

    Electrical Extension - To Shed

Hoping to get power into a garden shed. I have need of temporarily getting power to the shed for power tools as and when needed - i.e not on any regular basis. Not on a permanent basis. I can run an extension cable outside to the shed, and intend to put a trailing lead socket into a weatherproof ext cover which then connects through the shed into a Metal Clad USB Switched Socket (13A 2 Gang)...my intention would be to wire the tag end of the trailing cable into the switched socket - which is connected to the trailing cable socket in the ext weatherproof cover - which would receive power from an extension lead connected from the house itself. This is setup this way to avoid trip hazards/extension cables running across a shed floor. Is this feasible ? Anything connected to the switched sockets would be on an RCD adaptor.

Can I use an electric free-standing oven with a normal plug socket?

Hello I am living in a property currently which does not feature a fitted oven and does not seem to have any specific points for a cooker to be attached currently. In the meantime, would it be acceptable for me to use a free-standing electric oven using a sole plug socket or would I need an electrician to fit the oven in by some special electrical point? Any advice would be appreciated! Many Thanks!

Cost to rewire spotlights to central hanging light

Just bought a flat and before we re-plaster the ceilings we are considering changing the spotlights in the living room and possibly two bedrooms to a central hanging light in each room. Roughly how much would it cost to remove spotlights and rewire them to a central light per room?

    Outside sensor coach down lantern

Hi everyone, we have had an outside down lantern at the front door since we moved in, it has been working fine all this time ,which has been approximately 5yrs. The lantern was left in the ON position at the switch and only comes on when it gets dark and off again when its light ( I believe it is called a dawn till dust lantern) then all of a sudden it only worked when the actual switch was in the OFF position and has been working like this for quite a few months. Well now its stopped all together, ive bought new bulbs ,changed them and left the light in the on position for a day to see if it came back on, then i left in the off position the one where it worked last ,but to no avail . I've also wiped the sensor on the top just in case it was dirty. I dont really want to buy a new one just yet as i think there maybe something happening with the actual light switch itself . Also as it’s an upside down lantern and they seem very hard to come by WITH a SENSOR , Thank you in adavance .
