Can you use fence paint on decking?

I’ve got some fence paint left over and was wondering if it’s OK to use it on wooden decking?

"Hi Lauren it’s perfectly fine to use fencing paint for decking areas, but I would advise it’s probably not the best solution because it will wear off easily
I would recommend using a deking stain which should be a lot more hard wearing thanks Craig"

"Hi Lauren,

No, you cannot use a fence paint on decking,
Because it lack of durability to withstand foot traffic, leading to peeling, flaking and potential wood damage over time.

"Easy answer yes.
However it won’t give the protection required for
Harder work such as walking on and furniture sat on it etc etc
The fence paint would be a false economy"

"Hi Lauren , yes fence paint can be used but for heavy foot traffic it would be better to use a decking stain as the oil the water based mix is usually a lot more hard wearing then fence paint

Hope this helps …Sean"
