Can you keep materials

I had some protection boards put up to protect my neighbours property. I was charged for the boards as materials which is as expected but should then the boards be left with me to keep. After all, if they took them back and used them for other jobs it would be like we were buying them their work equipment. Just a bit confused so any input would help thanks

"They are legally your materials if you have paid for them

Different if they were off cuts then they would be no use to any one but full boards you would of thought the tradesman would of offered you them instead of just taken them did you ask for the boards to be left"

"In theory there are yours unless it was stipulated this wasn’t the case . To be honest it’s rare the customer would want them and they would just be removed as part of the job.
Ask politely if you can keep them as you purchased them specifically for your job. If I were the builder I’d say of course they are yours but I cannot speak for all
I hope this helps"
