Can you drink softened water?

We're thinking of getting a water softener installed but someone mentioned the softened water isn't suitable for drinking. Is that right? Do you need to have a separate tap for drinking then?

"Yes you can but I always recommend to add a water filter next to the water softener."

"Its fine to drink but best to get a one tap in house which gets the water direct from mains."

"Hi there
Softened water isn't suitable for drinking. Anyone who fits it got to have at least one tap in the property not softened for drinking water."

"No definitely not, it’s full of salt and water softener agents, will make you feel unwell"

"Hi yes you can drink softened water , this is for most people , people or infant with low sodium requirement this may not be good for , so they recommend keeping one tap that is direct to the main supply"
