Best paint for living room?

Should I go with a flat and lower sheen paint if I want to paint my living room? What might it depend on?

"Personally I think Matt is the best option, If you have little monsters running around with sticky hands then you may want to go for an eggshell which has more of a sheen but its easier to wipe clean. Its a personal preference to be honest. Matt wins for me everytime though"

"Mid sheen is best, wipeable and hardwearing, any colour can be mixed at any good trade store."

"Durable matte would be your best bet, matte finish and wipeable."

"Good afternoon Jenny hope your well, it also depends on weather you have kids for durable and sustainability, so you just need to take into consideration if the walls do get dirty you can just wipe them down with a partly damp cloth.

Kind regards Jonathan"

"Hi, most people go with a math paint because you can touch up a math pint but you can't wipe it down with a cloth, but with a low sheen pint or silk paint you can wash it down but you can't touch it up with out it standing out so hears the answer if you have young kids then go with the silk as it will be easier to wash down but if you don't have kids or they are older than use math as you can touch it up either way your choice hope this helps. God bless, John."

"I feel the best finish is a matte emulsion. If you got little children you can buy washable matte emulsion, try Johnstone's paint out let."

"It depends on how much wear you use your living. Paint with a sheen on it will be more hard wearing."

"The contrast of light might play a factor, in this area and it also depends on the furnishings to accompany the room."

"Hi. Matt paint means less light reflections from walls.
So even not perfect walls may looks nice.
All sheen paints , eggshels , silks , etc ... required perfect surface to get nice finish."

"Go for the lower sheen, sheen shows all the bits on walls if not perfect."

"I would recommend a flat contract paint for the living room, as it doesn’t show too many imperfections on the walls. But it comes down to personal choice in the end."

"Hi,
Ceiling should be matte paint.
If the walls are smooth you can use silk emulsion.
If in doubt use matt emulsion.

Regards"

"I suggest using silk paint because it gives a smooth finish without the shine. A living room would be the best place to use such a paint because it gives you a fresh, relaxing feeling."

"If the walls have imperfections go with a Matt paint, if the walls are not too flat and smooth, a sheen or semi sheen paint will show all this up, and the finish will be poor. Never use a silk paint as this will show up ever single little mark, lump and bump.
All the best with your project.

"I'm a decorator and I'd say use matt paint covers walls evenly and no blotches."
