Are in-tank toilets any good?

Are in-tank toilets any good? I've got a small WC and think this might give us more space but I don't know much about them.

They're great as long as they are fitted correctly, and if you're planning on tiling the frame in make sure you leave an access panel on mirror screws or something similar just in case.  
We have fotted many over the years and touch wood no problems yet.

Basically very good, but I would recommend a well-known company like Grohe, it is easier to mount and that the tank will be under the tiles, it should be durable...

I think you mean concealed cisterns… I’ve installed a few for customers and one at my home. They look very smart and fashionable and take up less space. I have only installed Gerberit brand as they are the best. I’ve had mine for 3 years and not a single problem. It obviously is more costly to install and needs the right wall with the necessary thickness.

Yes they are good especially in small bathrooms. Investing in good quality  toilet frame will be well worth it in the long run to prevent future issues.
