Are aluminium or steel gates better?

    Metalworkers

Are aluminium or steel gates better overall? When I say better, I suppose I mean in terms of durability, strength, security etc. Thanks for your time!

"Steel is stronger and much heavier than aluminium. On the other hand aluminium is light and does not get rusty whatsoever like mild steel. Also steel gate should be powdercoated to prevent rust or should be painted with special good paint.
Anyways most people are chosing metal gates and hammerite paint - it is the easiest way. Not the best but not too bad either."

"Aluminium is more durable and lighter but is softer so can be damaged more easily. Steel is heavier and more tougher and will take more of a hit and as long as it's coated properly i.e with galv and or paint or powder coating will last for years. Hope this helps ."
