  • Is Bathroom Paint Necessary For Bathrooms?

Hi All, I have a bathroom undergoing renovation at the moment, including some recently plastered walls. Is there any paints I should be using for a bathroom specifically? Anti-damp/water resistant perhaps? Would it be feasible to use normal emulsion at all? Also, if I do need to use bathroom-specific paint, could I do a first coat using an ordinary white thinned emulsion over the plaster?

Can I fit a lock to a hollow door?

Hello all I have a hollow bedroom door currently, which I would like to add a lock to. Is this possible to install, or would I need to replace the door for this? Is there any adjustments I could make to a hollow door to enable a new lock to be fitted?

Where should I buy my kitchen suite from?

Hello there, I want to buy a new kitchen suite and would like to know where the best place to buy a full kitchen would be? I want to buy it and get it installed ideally unless it would be better to buy it separately? I'm after the full kitchen with units, worktops and built in appliances. Any advice on the best place to buy them from without getting ripped off would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

How much does a brick wall cost to build?

Hi I am planning on getting a wall built soon. I already have materials for the builder to use (bricks, cement, sand and footing), which should be enough. The wall will need to be 7m long and 2.5m tall. Would anyone be able give me an idea of the approximate time it would take to complete? Or how much it would cost for the builder’s labour and time? Many thanks

Why won’t my outdoor light switch off?

I have a light in my garden which features a motion sensor to activate it. However, recently, it will turn on and stay on the rest of the night inexplicably. Does this sound like a problem with the settings that can be tweaked or that something in the light has broken? Ideally I would like to be able to change the setup to make it turn off after a time like previously did.

    Loft Conversion

Hello, I’m in the stages of planning a loft conversion. It’s not a huge loft and will probably only fit a desk and will be used for storage. I was advised to install two velux windows as to start with so at least we can get some light. I will need separate staircase going into the loft, for which there is space to do so - would I need an architect to draw all this up?

Do you need to use trunking when installing a new UK plug socket and plaster?

I have added a new double socket above an original one, and now it's time to plaster in the gap (which was used to get cables in), but do I need to trunk the wires before plaster them? I get mixed answers on this topic. And if so, what sort of trunking should use. Thank you!
