Hello, I'm wondering if I can paint my floor tiles, I havent got the money to remove them and install new tiles but is there any tile paint I could buy? How should I paint the actual floor tiles? Thanks

    Creating off road parking

I want to strip out two levels of my front garden to create off-road parking, so lots of soil removal and shoring up a very high stone wall on one side, plus utility relocation (mains water, maybe some electrical cables). Plus remove four small-ish fir trees in the same area and a wall bordering the road (made of stones I'd like to keep to help repair other matching walls in the garden). Do I need an architect to design this, or a landscaper, or can builders do the whole job? Do I need a project manager? Is there an average price per square foot for such work? I know I need to involve the Council because of shoring up the high wall and taking parking spaces from the road. They have agreed in principle a few years ago. Since then nearly all my neighbours have done the same. Where do I start with such a project? What are the classic pitfalls I need to be aware of? Should I pay part or all cash? Many thanks for any advice.

    Artex ceiling crack

Hi, i noticed a crack in my artex ceiling.. I used the ladder to see if the crack moved when I pushed it and it did, a little. It's not a very long crack but I'm just wondering how i can fix it as i want to sell the house and just trying to sort out these cosmetic issues. You could say it's a hairline crack.

    Front upvc door lock

I have just changed the handle and lock on my front uPVC door but the door won't lock when closed. I tried repositioning the striking plate but it only lock when I took it off. The lock works when the door is open. Do I need the strike plate? Or do I need to replace it?

Lead flashing required over aluminum soaker?

Hi, I'm currently having a new roof and porch put on, but am unsure about the finishing steps at the interface of the tiles and rendered wall. The roof interfaces with two timber dormer cheeks, and one masonry dormer cheek, all of which will be rendered once the roof is completed. Currently, aluminium soakers have been installed under the tiles, finishing against the wall/cheeks. My question is: 1) should a flashing now be installed on the wall/cheeks, overlapping/protecting the soakers, with the render then bought down to slightly overlap the flashing and the edge finished with a bell bead. Or 2) Should the render bead be installed directly overlapping the soaker, and not bother with the flashing? Have looked online but can't seem to find a definitive answer. I'm a bit concerned that without a flashing there's a risk of issues in the future which will then mean having to hack the render off! Thanks for any replies.

    Small Extension (3mx2m) Quotes

How much on average for a 3m x 2m extension on back of a terrace house, with a toilet. I was quoted £55k approx in the SE, but for a 3mx2m with a toilet at the back of a terrace house seems quite high, especially when I have to provide the tiles for the flooring and toilet and basin. Thoughts?

    Ceiling Cracks after collars removed

Hi. We recently got a small extension roof insulated with 100mm insulation boards and plasterboards on top. The guy doing the work said we could heighten the ceiling, by removing the collars that tied the two rafter sides together. He said that cause it was a small roof, that there’s not much weight and we don’t live in a climate that has much snow etc so that it would be fine. Job is less than 5 months old and the cracks have started appearing in the ceiling running along several lines. Just wondering were we fooled and if he knew what he was talking about or will our ceiling eventually collapse?
