  • Safety of internal glazing

I'd like to split my kitchen and dining room with internal glazing so they are two rooms but still feel airy. My only concern is child safety. What tips do you have?

    How to burnish a floor

What’s involved in burnishing a floor? And how about buffing a floor? What are the differences between each? What are the pros and cons to each approach? If I hired a floor fitter, which option would be the cheapest? Is there much of a difference in the quality of the outcome of using each of these options? Thanks for your time.

    Water tight external rendering options

Water ingress only when sustained heavy rain driving into south facing wall. Believe it's getting through cracks in render and running down external surface of wall where it continues down past lintel support beam due to extension roof flashing installed short of wall and going through gap. What are my best options to stop this please ?

    New roof on neighbours

My neighbour has just had a new roof with thicker batons. His roof is now higher than mine. They’ve installed a bonding tray but my tiles are raised at edge sitting on the tray. Therefore 2nd row of tiles are now sitting at a v angle. Neither neighbour nor roofer admitting any accountability saying it’s new regulations on size of batons and my roof needs replacing anyway. I now had a triangular gap in between every tile going up roof in 2 nd row of tiles up the roof. Where do I stand as being unreasonable to correct. No discussion with me beforehand.

    Help with dishwasher issue

We have just discovered that there is pipework and electrical socket in the way to a full size dishwasher (either integrated or freestanding. The width and height are fine but it’s the depth. Is this a cheap job to sort? We need to move the pipes out of the way, move the electrical socket to an alternative cupboard and also remove a section from the wooden support holding the worktop.

cost of making a 3D cinema at home in an area of 20 square metres

My family and I want to turn our living room into a 3D cinema. Our living room has an area of 20 square metres. We have one sofa against the longer wall, opposite the chimney and another sofa on the far end of the room, directly adjacent the windows. Then next to the windows we have our TV spot. We would like surround sound speakers and a flat screen 3D TV (of which we have neither at the moment). How much will it cost for us to have a professional contractor help us design our 3D cinema and bring it to life. Also, what will the price be our speakers and TV, on average? We’re happy to have furniture moved around and even have the TV spot reconsidered. Perhaps it could work better atop the chimney mantelpiece?
