  • Do I need a Double Check Valve for a Garden Tap?

Hi All, I am looking to install a new garden tap at home. Some have told me that I would need a “double-check valve” fitted for the water supply, to prevent freezing the valve in cold weather. Is this an absolute requirement? Would this mean that I would have the valve inside the house and then use a garden tap that does not contain this valve inside it? Are there any problems in using a tap with a check valve built-in, instead? IE – could it still cause freezing during cold weather? Any advice would be appreciated!

Can I mount a large TV to a plasterboard wall?

I have a 32” TV that I would like to have mounted to my wall. Ideally to hide the TV cables behind the wall too. It is a plasterboard wall and is internal, so wouldn’t involve dealing with any brickwork. The aerial connections are already working and a plug socket already available within reach of the wall. Would this be strong enough to support a TV of this size or would it need some other kind of support?

How can I find out who owns the fence in our garden?

Hello, I want to know who is responsible for the fences around my garden? I am looking to get the fence replaced to the left of the property as you look from the patio doors. Is there any hard fast rules around who is responsible for the fences around your boundary?

What is the best way to remove limescale from a toilet bowl?

Currently there is a build up of limescale in the toilet bowl, where it isn’t getting flushed away. I have tried some standard limescale removing products, but don’t seem to have any long-lasting effects on the bowl. Is there any sure-fire options to clear away the limescale? Ideally, something with industrial strength to make sure that it will be cleared. Any other suggestions are also welcome if you’ve some success with other methods! Thanks

How to fix a broken internal door?

Bedroom door is stuck shut and I can’t open it from the outside. I’m not on the side with the latch visible so I can’t open it that way. Can I open the door without damaging it? It’s just a standard wooden door with a lever latch handle and I can lower the handle but the latch inside isn’t moving. Help!

How long does it take to remodel a bathroom?

Just wondering if someone could help me. I need my bathroom renovating. The whole thing needs removing and new bath, sink and toilet installed along with tiling etc. It's about 3 metres by 3 metres. I cant have no use of my bathroom for too long so I just need to know how long i can expect it to take? Its a relatively basic unit that needs installing but if someone could provide me with some timeframes it would really help me plan everything out. Thank you very much.
