In the midlands. What's the likely estimate to repair a brick wall with many spalling/frost damaged bricks? The wall is 1st floor, houses the bathroom. Damage is just on the south facing wall which is the most exposed. Estimate it's about a 2mx3m area and at least half the bricks are blown, some badly some just going now. Pointing also missing in places. Realise cost is hard without seeing it, but is this hundreds or thousands?
How much is a fair price for a handyman to charge for building a fire wall for my oil tank?
Does it matter what sort of scraper I use to remove old wallpaper?
My usual window cleaner can’t work for a few months because he’s injured himself. Can anyone recommend the best equipment to buy to do it myself? No ladders, so extension poles are needed.
I’d like to have my bathroom renovated but I’m strapped for cash. What can I do to keep the costs to a minimum? Whether done DIY or by professionals that is? Thanks for your time. I look forward to hearing your response.
I am looking to get three new radiators added to my house. I want each to be a single panel radiator. How much will these radiators cost in material costs and what about the installation fee to have them added to my house?
Hi, I am looking to buy a house soon and in the garden of this house is an outhouse which the previous owners had used as music studio. It has a working toilet in it. i am thinking converting this into a seperate residence/flat for hosting Airbnb or keep tradional tenants. It doesnt have a gas boiler or gas supply going in. The outhouse is located within 10 meters of the property itself With regards to gas, i think its probably better to have a seperate supply/meter to avoid complications. Im posting this to see what the process would be for this? can any qualified builder qualify for this or do i have to get British gas to dig up the garden/road to lay down the supply? Will the supply split at the point of where my gas meter is? (The outhouse has electricity from the house but we would need its own meter as well) Looking forward to hearing your thoughts
When I had painted the first coat onto kitchen walls, I noticed that the paint on one wall wasn’t adhering properly and it had some marks which looked suspiciously like water marks. I think we have ruled out the possibility of the flat being damp, but it looks like there may have been a historic problem. Anyway, on the first coat some of the paint came away on the roller and then when trying to sort a crack, huge chunks of the paint fell away revealing the plaster underneath. I used a pallet knife to pull away the loose paint (pretty much the whole wall). Where do I go from here? My thought is to sand the wall down to get the patches of paint as smooth as possible and then use a peel stop primer (I’ve got the Zinnser one) and then mist coat as I would with a bare plaster wall? My other option would be to use a paint stripper to get the whole wall back to plaster but I don’t really want to go down that route!
On average, how long do doorbells last before they need to be replaced?
Should I go with beech parquet or maple parquet flooring? What are the pros/cons of each?
