What's the quietest kitchen extractor fan?

Which cooker hoods are the quietest? My old one was incredibly noisy and we're going open plan, so I'd like one that's quiet.

"You would have to read the reviews and look at manufacturers decibel levels to compare. For open floor it's usually better to get a powerful one as steam etc can go to the living space. Unfortunately, the more powerful ones may not be as quiet."

"Quiet depends on a number of environmental factors. I find most that are made by reputable manufacturers quiet but then style and size come into question as well as proper installation."

"You will find that if you can duct the extractor to the outside, you will reduce noise, also the type of ducting tube can make a difference."
