When can I switch on underfloor heating after screeding?

I’ve had a new screed laid over underfloor heating. How long should I wait before turning the system on?

"On top of the existing answers, when you do turn it on I would start with low temperature 20-30 degrees and build up over say a week. A crack in the screed is worth avoiding at all costs."

"Depends on the thickness of screed if it is about 60 mm thick about 48 hours"

"I advise you speak to the company that laid the screed due to their being many different types available.

Furthermore, are you intending to use the systems heat source to "Cure" the screed covering ? Some gas boilers for example have embedded programs for UFH Systems.

With the present information available I am unable to offer a definitive answer."

"Screed dries at 1 millimetre per day so depending on screeds depth is when it can be turned on."

"minimum of 7 days for calcium sulphate screeds. 21 days for traditional sand/cement screeds. But always check the manufacturers instructions beforehand and ask the installer for guidance."
