What underlay for vinyl flooring?

I'm laying click vinyl plank flooring over a concrete subfloor. Does it need underlay at all, and if so which type? Some packs seem to have it built in.

"If you're installing click vinyl (LVT) over a concrete subfloor, you will usually need a suitable underlay unless the planks already have an integrated backing. If the flooring has built-in underlay, adding another layer is often not recommended as it can cause movement in the joints.

If there is no backing, a thin LVT-specific underlay with a built-in damp proof membrane (DPM) is typically used over concrete to provide moisture protection and support.

Always check the flooring manufacturer’s guidelines, as some click vinyl systems specify exactly which underlay should be used."

"Hello,
The underlay I would use is just as thick as the flooring itself & is called LVT underlay, it’s not advisable to get an underlay that is too thick though.
LVT underlay is widely available in most DIY stores.
Hope this helps

"usually no, but sometimes yes (for the right reason). It depends on your exact plank type and how good your concrete is."

"hi, so the concrete floor will need a surface dpm and screeding so its as flat and smooth as possible, click lvt needs a very flat subfloor otherwise it will fail."
