What should my boiler pressure be

Just checked the boiler after putting on the heating for the first time in months, but I'm worried that the boiler isn't running at the right pressure. What's a healthy range?

Hi Greg, you’re wanting the pressure to be between 1 and 1.5 bar when the boiler isn’t working…it will pick up a bit when it’s working but you don’t want a massive difference between standing pressure and working pressure as the expansion vessel is there to handle the expansion of water.

Id look at 1 bar on the gouge raising to 1.5 depending on the boiler when the chtg is running

Hi Greg

The boiler should be about 1.2 when cold . When the boiler is heating the radiators it will rise to around 1.5 to 1.8 .
If the boiler if rising to much to over 2bar there will be an issue with the expansion vessel . If the pressure keeps dropping there could be a leak somewhere .
Best to get your boiler serviced annually as these are checks that are carried out on a service .
