What kind of tradesman would drill a hole in the wall to fit a portable air con unit hose through?

I'm struggling to know where to turn on this one! I'd like to be able to vent the hoses of my two portable air con units (one upstairs, one downstairs) through the wall and outside of the house, rather than via the window. I'm struggling to know who to contact to get a quote / organise drilling said holes and fitting the hose! I really don't want to be messing around with anyone who doesn't know what they're doing, but have no idea what kind of tradesman might do this job? Air con companies only deal with installing proper fitted units (££££). Thanks for any advice!

"Today, I (© Neil Leslie Gilbert-Williams-Jacksnephew of © NEIL LESLIE GILBERT WILLIAMS JACKSNEPHEW ENTERPRISES LIMITED/ T/A © N.L.G.W.J. ENTERPRISES) read your question.

I would think a builder/ BUILDING/ CONSTRUCTION COMPANY would be able to arrange this for you either are likely to be construction industry scheme (C.I.S.) registered. However, if you seek service from handyman, I would think you would need to ensure you are insured for building insurance.

Please will you answer:

1) wall material (eg brick, concrete, wood or other?
2) If the portable air conditioner instructions from manufacture recommends 'drilling holes' to install duct hose?

Perhaps you will consider if you certainly require structural modification for portable equipment. If your answer is yes, please consider that the work involves modification to your homes structure. Do you need planning permission. Will you be happy with hose in wall whilst portable equipment isn't operable?

If the answers are yes, please consider:

If you require an idea of work involved, I would think your choice of tradesman would need to:
1) use relevant core & core hammer drill (to bore holes)
2) use appropriate seal/ insulation (to secure around duct hose and reduce draft)
3) fit vent's (for protection against insects, other)
4) have industrial waste carrying license

I hope this helps."

"It's the same when you drill a hole for a fan or vent or boiler flu pipe or waste pipe.
As long you find the correct space and have a non return vent fitted. The best way is to drill from outside to prevent the dust, other wise have to work with vacuum cleaner.
I have drilled hundreds of holes when installing fans,or move toilet in new position and I have the tools needed."

"I would say a handyman should be able to help. It's a case of drilling a large hole in the wall and fixing the vents both sides of the wall."
