What does the cold water tank in the loft feed

We’ve got a tank up in the loft and I’m trying to understand what in the house is fed from it, because some taps seem stronger than others and I can’t work out why. What does the cold water tank in the loft actually supply? How can we work this out?

"Cold water tank in loft feeds your hot water tank your bathroom needs so basin bath possibly the toilet the only other tank in the loft should be your central heating which is a tiny tank"

"You can check by turning off your mains water if water continues to run from the hot taps it means you have a gravity fed system. The tank feeds your hot water tank then feeds from there to your hot taps"

"Hi,
It usually supply

-Cold taps in the bathroom
-Toilet (Wc cistern )
-Hot water cylinder, feed all hot taps
-Sometimes the shower (if its gravity-fed mixer shower)"

"In most UK homes the loft cold water tank feeds:

Bathroom cold taps.
Bath.
Toilet cisterns.
Hot water cylinder.

The kitchen cold tap is usually mains fed, that is why it feels stronger.

The tank does not normally feed outside taps or combi boilers.

How to check. Turn off the mains stop tap. Open a cold tap downstairs. If water still runs, that tap is tank fed. If it stops, it is mains fed.

Tank fed taps run at lower pressure because they rely on gravity."

"You can have 2 water tanks in your loft space one will be the header tank which mainly feeds your vented hot water cylinder. You will have a cold mains feed to a part 2 fill valve which regulates the volume of water in the header tank, when you call for hot water it will replenish the hot water loss in the cylinder, if fitted correctly there will be no cold water draw off from the outlet of the header tank, whoever installed the system may of Teed into the cold water mains feed to feed toilet, cold tap on basin or cold tap on bath the only real way to diagnose this is to have plumber to attend to see wether the feeds are from the mains or draw off from header tank, you may also have a F&E FEEDING EXPANSION it will not be this tank as that feeds your central heating. Hope this helps"

"Your downstairs (kitchen tap) may be fed from the mains whilst the incoming main will then proceed directly up to your CWSC (water tank) this then will feed other outlets such as your bathroom. Depending on your system within your house you may also have an F&E tank as well up there."

"Hi.
If you will isolate the main water supply and step by step run your water taps for a couple of minutes each, you will see which one is tank fed. The main can run only a couple of seconds (leftovers from pipe).
Usually the kitchen tap is main feed and the rest is tank fed."

"The large tank in the roof feeds your bath basin and hot tap in the kitchen.
The cold in the kitchen is fed from the incoming mains cold water"

"The cold water tank in the loft feeds your mains hot water supply in a cylinder/cistern normally located on a lower floor via a gravity fed system (conventional system)."
