Tv mount on plasterboard

I have a 55inch TV that I want to mount on to the wall.
The wall is plaster board and there’s one wooden beam going straight down the centre.

We want to put it on this wall as the rooms an awkward shape and there’s not really any other options.
Would this be okay?
We have the wall plugs that the mounts come with and some reinforced ones we brought.

Will the wall hold the Tv? Or will it cause damage to the wall and risk it coming down

"If you can screw directly into the stud that’s probably a good enough but I would recommend cutting plasterboard and wanting the area that the to bracket will be going on and that will make it 100% able to take the weight of the to"

"Mounting a 55-inch TV on a plasterboard wall with a central wooden beam should generally be feasible. However, it's crucial to ensure the wall can support the weight and that the installation is done properly to avoid damage or accidents. Here are a few considerations:

Weight Capacity: Confirm that the wall mounts you have can support the weight of your TV. Check the specifications of both the mounts and the TV to ensure compatibility.

Wall Stud: Mounting the TV on the wooden beam is ideal for added support. Locate the exact position of the stud and align the mount accordingly.

Wall Plugs: While wall plugs can be helpful, it's essential to choose appropriate ones for the weight and follow the manufacturer's instructions for installation.

Reinforced Wall Plugs: If you have reinforced wall plugs, they can provide additional stability. Ensure they are suitable for plasterboard and follow the instructions for installation.

If there is a brick wall behind the plasterboard, drilling into the brick can provide a more secure mounting option for your TV. Here are a few considerations for drilling into a brick wall:

Check for Obstacles: Before drilling, ensure there are no electrical wires, plumbing, or other hidden obstacles behind the intended drilling area. Use a stud finder or consult a professional if needed.

Masonry Drill Bit: Use a masonry drill bit designed for drilling into brick or concrete. These bits are harder and can effectively penetrate the brick.

Anchors or Wall Plugs: Depending on the size and weight of your TV, use appropriate anchors or wall plugs designed for masonry applications. These will provide stability and support for the TV mount.

Drill and Secure: Carefully drill into the brick wall at the desired location, following the instructions provided with the anchors or wall plugs. Insert the anchors or wall plugs securely into the holes.

Mounting Bracket: Attach the TV mounting bracket onto the anchors or wall plugs, following the manufacturer's instructions. Ensure it is securely fastened to the wall.

Test and Adjust: Once the mount is in place, carefully lift and mount the TV onto the bracket. Ensure that it is level and securely attached. Test the stability by applying gentle pressure to the TV."

"Hi if you can get some screws into the beam brilliant but also I would get some m6 plugs that open up behind the plaster like a large x pattern very very strong your local B&Q will have these.
Tvs don't actually have alot of force behind them once clamped against a wall

Cheers ben"

"There are a variety of fixings you can use to fix your bracket to plasterboard, some stating the weight it would hold,

For example,

If 1no fixing holds upto 3kg,
And you put 4no in,
That' totals a max hold of 12kg, many new smart tvs are less than 10kg

Hope this helps

Cheers

"Hello as long as you go into the wall you will be ok the screw will not come through the other side don't worry but you must go through the plaster board and into wood or brick because the plaster board is know were near strong enough for that size TV. Hope this helps regards Stuart"

"If you have the correct plaster board wall plugs or anchors, then yes.
The tv will be fine"

"It is not a Big Deal with the right bracket for the TV, Normally is a safety measure to be sure the bracket is secure to the vertical beams."

"You'll be ok to hang this TV on the wall as long as you use the correct fixtures. If you are lucky enough to find a beam then great but if not I would recommend using GRIPIT fixtures that come with differing weight limits. I've used them for a door rail for hanging solid wooden doors with no issues."

"Hi, I would recommend using Gripit wall fixings to mount heavy TVs onto a plasterboard wall. They are rated to hold up to 113kgs providing its a immovable fixed bracket I.e. non extending, turning or tilting. They usually come in a pack of 4 gripits with the whole making drill bit for about £8."
