"Yes, many tree surgeons and tree surgery companies have environmental policies in place. These policies often focus on sustainable practices, such as minimizing waste, reducing environmental impact, and following regulations for tree preservation and habitat protection. It's always a good idea to ask about a company's environmental practices before hiring them."

"I can’t talk for everyone , but I have subcontracted for a lot of companies.
We don’t wake up with the dream of cutting down every single tree like some protesters seem to think.
We should avoid killing wildlife and only remove trees when needed.
Most of the wood is recycled as logs or wood chip."

"Some will and some won't. Just ask the company what their environmental policy is."

"normal. like there is also a certain policy for trees, so you can't cut them when you wake up overnight like that's how you came to eliminate them, but a survey must be done regarding these trees, and some checks to see their case and stage for what cause should be removed and if they should and under what conditionstrees should not be removed for any reason because they support the soil and balance landslides, only in some very serious cases that would worsen the situation, their leaves emanate oxygen, if it weren't for the trees we wouldn't have oxygen"

"Not all tree surgeons have formal environmental policies, but professional and well-run companies usually do.

Larger or more established contractors, and those working for councils, commercial sites, or managing agents, are often required to have a written environmental policy as part of their operating standards. This sets out how the business manages issues such as:

Wildlife and habitat protection

Waste handling and duty of care

Recycling and reuse of arisings

Pollution prevention (fuels, oils, spill response)

Noise, dust, and disturbance control

Smaller operators may follow good environmental practice without it being written down, but the absence of a policy can limit who they are able to work for and may raise questions around compliance and professionalism.

An environmental policy doesn’t need to be complicated — it should be practical, proportionate, and actually followed on site. It also needs to align with UK legislation (such as wildlife protection and waste regulations), not just be a “box-ticking” document.

In short: not everyone has one, but the better operators do — and they can explain how it’s applied in real work, not just on paper."

"Yes many professional tree surgery companies do have environmental policies, but whether they must have one depends on their size, contracts, and the type of work they undertake."
