Tiling a splashback

Does it matter how many rows of tiles I use for my kitchen splashback? I'm thinking of three or four rows of metro tiles. Is this enough?

"4 is probably better round the sink area to reduce water splashing onto the walls but a professional tiler would be able to advise when visiting"

"It makes no difference, three or four rows high. It's up to each individual. Though always go high up over the hob area, if you have a hob that is. All the way up to any exactor fan overhead."

"It just depends on how you want it to look. Three seems a little small, four is getting there, but it's all up to you how you want it to look really."

"Each splashback material will require a different level of maintenance. Glass is great for wiping down oil and general cooking spills while tile grout as an example, can require a little more attention. Porous materials such as marble or timber will also require an extremely careful approach to stains and cleaning."

"Really, the least Amount of rows are 5 rows of metros to unit the kitchen units"

"The minimum height of a splash back is 450mm and the recommended height is 600mm. So Assuming you are using 100mm high metro tiles, I would tile at least 6 rows, remember to factor in the tile spacer gaps too, either 1mm or 2mm spacers are the norm. Naturally, the amount of rows you use depends on the space you are tiling and the associated aesthetics."

"I does not matter how many rows you want when I tile splash backs the row normally ends on line with the bottom of the cupboard"

"Full tile from the work top and finish directly under the wall kitchen unit. Last row of tiles may have to be cut. Keep the same height where kitchen units not present but consider using tile trim to achieve neat finish."
