Large format tile installation cost
We would like 60 by 120 porcelain tiles in the kitchen. I understand large format tiles are harder to lay properly. Do tilers charge more per square metre for these? How much?

"Large format are between 60 to £100 a meter large format are harder to lay and more time consuming and use special tools and must be completed buy a specialist"

"Hi, I can install the 60 × 120 cm large-format tiles on a day-rate basis. My labour rate is £300 per day. The total number of days will depend on the area, the condition of the surface, and the amount of cutting required."

"Hi,
The cost of installing 600 × 1200 mm porcelain tiles can vary depending on several factors, so it's difficult to give a fixed price per square metre without seeing the project.
The laying pattern (straight or staggered), the amount of cutting required, and, most importantly, the condition of the subfloor will all affect the overall cost.
Large-format tiles require a very flat and level substrate to achieve proper adhesive coverage and a high-quality finish.
If the floor requires preparation, such as applying a self-levelling compound, this would normally be priced separately.
Where underfloor heating is installed, I also recommend fitting a decoupling membrane in accordance with BS 5385 to help minimise the risk of future tile cracking.
As a guide, our labour rates are:
• Large-format tile installation: from £50/m²
• Decoupling membrane installation: £15/m²
• Self-levelling compound installation: from £17/m² (labour only)
Any additional preparation or remedial work would normally be charged on a daywork basis once the floor has been inspected.
The best way to provide an accurate quotation is to assess the condition of the floor and discuss the preferred layout before work begins.
