"Why not get a wireless thermostat which complies to boiler plus and communicates straight to your boiler to control the temperature and also you can have programmable to set daily times"

"Yes a smart thermostat lets you control the house temperature but you can have a wireless digital thermostat fitted without smart capability if you don't need that - for combi boilers something like an EPH combi 4 would be a good choice and is a much more efficient way of maintaining the house temperature than relying on the boiler stat - saving you money too. A receiver is wired into the boiler then the thermostat is battery operated and can be placed anywhere in the house."

"Absolutely! Smart thermostats do offer remote control and scheduling via a phone app or other smart devices, but many also function like traditional thermostats, allowing manual temperature adjustments directly on the device itself.

If remote control isn't a priority for you, there are plenty of smart thermostat models that provide straightforward manual control similar to traditional thermostats. They offer features like setting temperature, adjusting schedules, and controlling heating systems directly on the device, without the need for smartphone access.

However, if you don't have a thermostat at all and your heating is currently controlled directly on the boiler, you might consider installing a basic programmable thermostat or a non-smart digital thermostat. These devices allow you to set and adjust temperatures manually and can offer basic scheduling functions.

When choosing a thermostat, consider your preferences for temperature control, ease of use, and any additional features you might want, such as programmable schedules or energy-saving settings. Consulting with a heating professional can also provide insights into the best thermostat for your specific heating system and preferences."

"Yes, a smart thermostat does allow you to control the temperature of your home, typically through a smartphone app or other smart home devices. However, if you are not interested in controlling it through your phone and prefer a more traditional approach, you can certainly install an ordinary thermostat.

An ordinary thermostat, sometimes referred to as a manual thermostat or non-programmable thermostat, allows you to set the desired temperature manually using a physical dial or buttons. These thermostats are relatively simple to use and are often less expensive than smart thermostats.

If your heating is currently controlled by a manual control on the boiler and you don't have a separate thermostat, you might want to consider installing a basic thermostat to have more direct control over the temperature in your home. This would involve connecting the thermostat to your heating system and setting it to your desired temperature.

Before making any changes, it's advisable to consult with a Gas Safe registered engineer to ensure compatibility with your existing system."

"A smart thermostat will allow you to control the room/house temperature rather than the temperature of the water flowing round the radiators which you control from the boiler"

"Yes a Smart thermostat lets you control heating temperature from a phone. However you can have a wireless room stat installed which meets the “Boiler Plus” policy. This will let you control the temperature in the house and be more energy efficient."
