Should you caulk before or after painting a room?

I’m in the middle of decorating and keep seeing different advice on this, so I’m trying to work out the right order before I mess it up and have to redo bits.

"I would caulk before painting as you would want to paint over the caulk when giving the final coat
Hope this helps."

"As a professional decorator, caulking should always be done before painting.
Caulk is used to seal small gaps around skirting boards, door frames, window frames and internal corners. Applying it before paint allows it to dry properly and be painted over, creating a seamless, clean finish.
The correct order is: • Surface preparation
• Filling and sanding
• Caulking gaps
• Primer/undercoat (if required)
• Top coats
If caulk is applied after painting, it can leave visible lines, colour variation, or a slightly glossy patch that stands out.
For the best professional result, always caulk first and then paint over it once fully dry.
