Should black Bitumen DPC sealer apply to newly replaced class A DPC engineering bricks?

Landscaper suggests to apply black Bitumen DPC sealer to the newly replaced DPC bricks to add a protective layer of protection. Will it trap moisture inside the bricks and cause damage? I think Engineering bricks are already highly resistant to water.

"Engineering bricks are very resistant to water however you must not cover your top blue as moisture may work its way through your mortar.

So in my opinion a Bitumen sealer would not be needed on the understanding that the top blue remains exposed"
