"Firstly, buy well known and trusted smart devices. There are many cheap knockoffs available, but the cost of the device also includes the cost of developing the software that it runs. Good software isn’t cheap! This should mitigate against potential software vulnerabilities.

Secondly, speak to your internet service provider to enquire about upgrading your home router to a model that supports WPA3 - this is the latest standard for WiFi security and is more resistant to attacks.

Thirdly, you need to correctly configure the smart device. If it’s designed to be remotely accessible, don’t leave the password unchanged! Set a strong password that you’ve not used before to prevent people from being able to do a search for the default credentials and just using those.

Those are the three most common cases for devices being hacked. Built-in software vulnerabilities, weak WiFi security, and weak device configuration."

"Hi

Firstly ensure that you use a WIFI SSID that does not contain your name or any part of you address, use WPA2, use a strong WiFi password, enable a firewall on your router. And use different and strong passwords on each your devices."

"Well I suggest to use firewall with your smart managed switch and don’t share your credentials with anyone 🤓"
