Rot on wooden window frame

If there's only a small amount of rot on a wooden window frame, is it worth repairing? Do you cut out the rot and glue in a new piece of wood?

"It's depends from frame stile. Some of the windows frame can be cutted and glued, but some of them will be cheaper replace than repair. If rot is not really big it can be repaired by cleaning/cutting rot out and filled the hole with wooden two-part filler."

"Well I think it’s worth repairing. And it is something that is commonly done. Especially if it’s a historic window. Generally hardwood window frames are more likely to be repaired than softwood window frames.

If it actually is a very small area, then the rot can be cleaned out, treated with preservative and then repaired with wood filler. If it’s a large area, then a replacement piece of wood can be fashioned to fit the hole in security in place. ."

"You can repair and cut out rot to a window dependent on the amount."

"Yes - or if the area is small you could cut out the rot and use a 2 part wood filler - ie ROnseal High performance wood filler

good luck

"if it is small, you can use a wood filler, if something larger, it is better to replace a piece of wood"

"Yes small areas of rot can be repaired.
Cut out the rotten area and replace with a new piece of wood preferably treated and repaint"
