"With new plantings, gardeners generally learn to dig a hole twice as wide and as deep as the root ball being planted. The plant is then placed in the hole and backfilled with a mixture of compost and soil. This can be a quick way to kill a rhododendron with love!"

"Yes it is, the best way is to cut it as low to the ground as you can. Once cut down, dig a 6 inch trench around it and then fill with rocksalt (like you use of the roads). Then cover with with polythene and lightly cover with soil. The roots will absorb the salt and eventually kill the roots, usually in the spring when the plant starts to grow again.

Be cautious of what is planted around the Rhododendron, small chance of it affecting the other plants due to increased salt. Slim chance.

Hope fully you consider salt to be a natural product and not chemical"
