How can I reduce the cost of a new worktop without fitting it myself? Any tips?

"It all depends on the type of work top you choose. Plus also the design will have some impact due to the amount if cuts that will be required"

"I would say the only way to reduce cost on a worktop is to use joining strips as opposed to a masons mitre which has to be done by a professional
This isn't as good but will save money on labour"

"It would all depend on the type of worktop you go for, .. IE CHIPBOARD 30mm thick will be the cheapest, then 44 mm chipboard , quartz , a slab tech worktop, granite so on and so on, the fitting cost is pretty standard depending on the sizes etc, how many mitre joints their are and the number of cut outs you require , sink and job etc , you can take out the mitre joints by using the metal bar/ trim for the joint . So they are only butted together, but at the end of the day you get what you pay for, and a kitchen is a long time investment and probably the focal point of the house, hope that helps

"This is a difficult one to give a clear cut answer… no pun intended..
I am not sure if you are referring to the cost of the worktop or the Labour… For the worktop, if a full length isn’t required you might be able to buy an off cut… As for the fitting, it needs to be done by a skilled competent fitter to get it right."

"That depends on what sort of tip you are having.
If you’re having granite or any of the natural stone tops I wouldn’t recommend fitting it yourself.
If you having oak then again leave it to the professionals.
F you use durapal tops then you can save mo he by not having them mitred to join them together.
You can use joining strips.
But I wouldn’t recommend them."

"It depends on the type of work top you choose. Marble and granite require templates being done by the companies before cutting and fitting. Laminate is the cheapest option and you can easily find a handyman to install for an hourly rate."
