"Yes you can do this however I would advise that you put concrete boards down instead."

"Hi Sam,

I would personally use a primer, if you type it into google loads will come up. Mapei primer is the one I use and always works well, it’s £26 from B&Q. Just read the instructions and use a roller as normal.

PVA doesn’t ensure all the qualities primer does, like full waterproofness, and mould and moisture resistant.

This is one on the tick list that will turn your install from a DIY job to a professional outcome.

Yes either PVA or SBR is appropriate for sealing plywood before tiling.

"Hi Sam, if you are looking to tile on the bathroom floor you would need to begin the process by fixing concrete boards with adhesive and screws to the existing floor boards, you will then need to let that dry, settle and stick prior to tiling,"

"Hi Sam I would recommend using a mapai primmer that’s what wee use or use tile backer board instead of plywood and there not primer required then"

"Better using backer boards instead of plywood, if using ply, PVA is a no no better to use a proper primer that soaks into the wood"

"Hello. PVA is a water based adhesive, so it will have a limited life outside. Overall a plywood requires the application of a latex based bonding product to seal it."

"Yes,its recommended as it removes the dust and creates a better bonding of the tile adhesive. I recommend to spread adhesive on the back of tiles very tin before laying."
