Pull Cord- bathroom light switch

The string on my bathroom light pull cord has snapped above the knot near the base. Do I need a whole new switch to fix? Do I need an electrician?

"Just the cord, any DIY store. No electrician required."

"Handyman should be able to tie new pull cord on to the existing base"

"You'll need a new switch as the cord is usually contained within the plastic housing under the capping and usually cannot be easily reached."

"It is just a cord; depending on the switch, you could just simply attach a new cord. But I'd say, a cleaner job is to just buy a new switch; they are not all taht expensive and are easily available at B&Q. You dont need a qualified electrician either although, when replacing the switch, you should get electricity cut off. If replacing like for like switch, it's an easy swap. If you the switch has different dimensions, again, for a clean job you may need some extra work around the old switch ...
Done this few times and it's very doable by a DIY-er like myself."

"You will need to replace the switch. Remember safe isolation process as the supply on the switch is constant live. If you are unsure, hire a qualified electrician to do this for you instead"
