Ask your QuestionWhat can be done about a flue offset that is too long? Any suggestions? What are the problems that can be expected if this is the case?
Asked by Carherine on 28th Jun 2021"More information is required to answer your question correctly.
All appliances that have a flue have different specifications on length and bends used.
I would suggest you contact a gas safe registered engineer who can carry out a gas safety inspection on the flue and advise you on your options. An incorrectly fitted flue is extremely dangerous."
"Hi there Anthony here, couple of things to consider is the flue within boiler design range? Manufacturers have many different allowable lengths for various models,
Also is the flue weather proof as if it’s not this would need to be addressed straight away,
Also is the flue going to cause a nuisance to yourself or surrounding neighbours,
You can expect boiler performance to suffer, potentially have any warranty voided and also upset any neighbours that are getting products of combustion blown in there direction due to a poorly sited flue,
Lots to digest hope this helped 👍"
"Hi. I’m guessing that you are referring to the termination being too long? If so then depending on the manufacturers guidelines then it could be ok provided that it is secured with mortar around the hole that is cut for it and clips if it’s really that long. I hope that helps.
