Price for a gas replacement boiler

I have an old heat only boiler and want to upgrade.
I have a Geledhill tank, pump,valves etc.

I have so much mixed info and huge quotes @ £4k that want to replace the pump, valves etc etc.

And

I also have advise that says remove all kit and install a combi boiler.

What do the experts think ?

The quotes are huge for both, and they want to add / not include a power flush and fancy thermostat.

The quotes also add on the cost of a magna filter, not included but added as extra!,
Is this correct?

I have a thermostat already ,not TRVs granted but at £40 per rad ( 7 rad) it’s seems extremely high.

Thanks in advance

"Depending on the age of your current system you have many options
1. Stick to your current heat only system but recommended is changing the pump, stat, thermostat & magnetic filter
2. Converting to a combi boiler depending on how many bathrooms you have and how many showers are run at the same time.

"Dear Sir/Madam,

The first question i would ask is how much water demand do you require ie how many bathrooms do you have in the property and how many adults or people live there? size of property

A combi boiler is a brilliant invention but they can only deliver some much hot water at any one time.
Every hot water and heating system is different and calculations need to be made before just saying fit a combination boiler and have done with it.

"The cost of replacing a gas boiler can vary significantly based on various factors, including the type of boiler, system upgrades needed, additional components like pumps or valves, and the complexity of the installation. Here are some insights:

Upgrade Options: There are different approaches to boiler replacement. Upgrading the existing system components along with a new heat-only boiler or opting for a combi boiler installation are both viable options. The choice often depends on your heating and hot water needs, existing system setup, and budget.

Combination Boiler: Installing a combi boiler might eliminate the need for a separate hot water tank, providing on-demand hot water and potentially saving space. However, it might require additional modifications to your plumbing system and could impact water pressure.

Price Discrepancies: Quotes for boiler replacement can vary widely. It's advisable to get multiple quotes from different installers to compare prices and ensure you're getting a fair deal. Make sure the quotes include a breakdown of all included components and services to understand the differences.

Additional Costs: Some installers might suggest adding extras like power flushing the system or installing a magnetic filter to improve system efficiency and protect the new boiler. While these can be beneficial, it's worth confirming if these extras are necessary or if they're being included unnecessarily to inflate the quote.

Thermostatic Radiator Valves (TRVs): The cost of TRVs can vary, but £40 per radiator seems higher than average. Shopping around or discussing this with installers might provide a better understanding of the pricing.

Consider Professional Advice: It might be beneficial to consult with a heating engineer or multiple professionals to assess your specific setup and needs. They can provide tailored recommendations and quotes based on your requirements and existing system.

When reviewing quotes, it's crucial to ask questions about what's included, clarify the necessity of each component or service, and ensure you're comfortable with the proposed work before making a decision. Getting multiple opinions and quotes can provide a clearer picture and help you make an informed choice."

"It’s hard to say until you see the job. I’ve done these types of jobs for £2500 but also £3500. Personally I prefer converting to combis as less chances of air locks and and I feel they’re easier for the customer. If I was you I’d definitely get the filter as it’s only £80/£100. Id also get the trv’s as they improve efficiency. Hope this helps"
