How to get air out of a combi boiler?

Our boiler bangs and gurgles when the heating fires up, but the radiators are fine. Sounds like air in the system. How do you get it out?

You’re combo should be self venting maybe the self venting is choked

Could be a blocked condenser pipe. If the pipe is blocked, water can build up in the heat exchanger causing it to boil. This will eventually cause a failure on the boiler. If the boiler is a non condensing boiler, it could be a faulty automatic air vent on the pump or a blocked heat exchanger.

Bleed the radiators could possibly be a pump issue

Bleed air from AAV or check AAV is operating fine. We can also use inbuilt air purge function within control panel. Sometimes we can manually release air from pump screw cap.

you will need a gas safe registered heating engineer to check your boiler,as noises from boiler can be caused by a multitude of issues,some of which might be critical safety issues

Check that there is water in the heating system  and boiler.
Bleed radiators of air and check any visible pressure guage is not reading zero pressure.

Banging boiler on start up can be a sticking pump due to wear and tear or poor water quality.

Stuck auto air vent or heat exchanger scaled or dirty due to poor water quality.

Don't attempted to examine the boiler or remove the case. If the pressure is correct there is nothing more you can do. Get a Gas safe registered engineer to attend to check the issue.
