Plasterboard/sound proofing

Question

Hi, looking to maybe add a layer of plaster board to certain areas of my home to block out noise. Im not sure if sound proofing is something that plastering professionals offer or if its just an extra layer of plasterboard needed. Any advice welcome.

Hi David,

You can get a soundproof plaster board which would help with the noise ultimately I would advise studding out the adjoining wall and using Celotex insulation along with the SB plasterboard, this would certainly tone the noise to a minimum.

You can buy plaster board with insulation on back of it which will sound proof it

2 layers of blue plasterboard and then plastered should sort your problem

Hi there can be a few different ways to achieve sound proofing. I would recommend putting a timber frame on the wall with 25mm insulation between the joists then acoustic plasterboard can be use then plastering.
