"all depends on how big the job is it is down to you weather your happy with that arrangement i always ask for 25% deposit that is normally to cover cost off materials and then collect at the end when customer is happy with the work because that is like signing off the job knowing that the customer is happy"

"In my opinion it depends on the price & length of the job, but I know most ask for 25% either up front or once they start the job"

"Hi depends on if it's a expensive job really.if it's going to take 3-4 weeks then it's reasonable to draw a weekly wage every week . I have never asked for money upfront though ."

"It all depends on the size of the works and time scales.

If the project is 4 weeks + then yes. We always take a deposit. Then a stage payment during works. Then final payment within 7 days of completion"

"You can pay twice or 3x whatever you are comfortable with as job progresses but it has to be in agreement with the trades person for trust and transparency."
